Joining settings ​

Share one 8-digit joining code with platform users and with members and staff in the OpenCommute app.

  • Platform users send a join request that an admin must approve. See Joining a Team.
  • Members and staff enter or scan the code in the OpenCommute app and join without extra approval, unless their home address is outside your operational area. Those requests wait for approval on Join requests. See Managing Members.

The QR encodes the 8-digit code so a scan in the app joins the organisation. The website join link is copyable text for platform users — it is not in the QR.

  1. Go to Settings > Joining.
  2. Turn Allow external joining? on or off. Turning it on prepares an 8-digit code in the form; the organisation is not joinable until you save.
  3. If enabled, set or refresh the 8-digit joining code.
  4. Click Show Joining Code to open the QR, copy the code, or copy the website join link.
  5. Click Save settings.

Refreshing code safely

Use the refresh action when you want to invalidate an older joining code and share a new one.

When joining is on, Show Joining Code appears on this page, and a QR icon appears next to search in the sidebar. Press Ctrl+Q to open it from the keyboard. You can also open it on Settings > Platform Users. See Managing Platform Users.
