Our principles

At darren-glanville.dev (the makers of OpenCommute) we have a few fundamental principles:

• We don't ask you for personal information unless we truly need it.
• We don't share your personal information with anyone except to comply with the law, develop our products, or protect our rights.
• We don't store personal information on our servers unless required for the ongoing operation of our services.
• In our products, we aim to make it as simple as possible for you to control what is visible to your team and what is kept private.

Team and member privacy

Teams using OpenCommute agree to the Terms and Conditions and thereby agree to collect only the information from members and passengers that is necessary for the running of their transport services. They agree not to share your details inappropriately and to contact you only with regard to your bookings, membership, or the services you sign up for. Your email will be kept safe and will not be used for spam. Administrators may use your email for occasional service-related communications but will provide an easy option to unsubscribe from future mails.

Website visitors

Like most website operators, darren-glanville.dev collects non-personally-identifying information of the sort that web browsers and servers typically make available, such as the browser type, language preference, referring site, and the date and time of each visitor request. darren-glanville.dev's purpose in collecting non-personally identifying information is to better understand how visitors use the OpenCommute website and platform.

In each case, darren-glanville.dev collects such information only insofar as is necessary or appropriate to fulfil the purpose of the visitor's interaction with OpenCommute.

We do not store any financial or card details on our systems. When making payments, financial details are collected in a secure manner and passed directly to Stripe to process the payment. The safeguarding of your financial details is the responsibility of Stripe. See our Third party services page for more information.

You may request details of personal information that we hold about you under applicable data protection law. If you would like a copy of the information held on you please email privacy@opencommute.uk. If you believe that any information we are holding on you is incorrect or incomplete, please contact us as soon as possible and we will promptly correct any information found to be incorrect. Cookies

A cookie is a string of information that a website stores on a visitor's computer, and that the visitor's browser provides to the website each time the visitor returns. darren-glanville.dev uses cookies to help identify and track visitors, their usage of the OpenCommute website and platform, and their access preferences. On the marketing website, optional live chat through tawk.to is loaded only after you accept functionality cookies, and Google Analytics 4 is loaded only after you accept analytics cookies. Analytics is separate from live chat and is not used on the signed-in platform. You can read more in our dedicated Cookie Policy. We also use Cloudflare Turnstile on public forms (signup, joining a team, signing in, and password reset) to prevent automated abuse. That check is a security measure and is described on our Third party services page.
